Superjoint, one of Phil Anselmo‘s many southern-fried supergroups, reunited last year (and toured with Danzig) after being broken up for some 10 years. Centered around Phil, Jimmy Bower (Eyehategod/Down), and Kevin Bond (Christ Inversion), Superjoint are now getting ready to release their first new album in over a decade. It’s called Caught Up in the Gears of Application and it drops on Phil’s Housecore Records at some point in the future. In the meantime they’ve shared the first slice of new music, a song called “Sociopathic Herd Delusion.”
Superjoint (FKA Superjoint Ritual) have always mixed the signature Bower/Anselmo brand of sludge groove with a healthy dose of hardcore, and the new song is no exception. It’s a furious, straight-ahead ripper that aims squarely for the gut.
Meanwhile, Phil continues to be active both in creating music and controversy. And Jimmy Bower’s main gig Eyehategod are about to hit the road with Lamb of God’s Randy Blythe on vocal duties.
